Ok well until tonight I hadn't heard anything worth ranting about, but now I have so here we go! Merge Records have some great releases with Spoon's album Kill the Moonlight. You can also download some mp3's from their band website. My fav song: Stay Dont Go

Something else grabbed my interest when released a few months ago is from And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, a band from Austin, TX. It’s as good a place as any; a once and future frontier town that has it’s share of conspiracy theorists and militant whack-jobs. The boys, Kevin, Conrad, Neil and Jason, fit right in. However, their music is not exactly what one might expect from Austin...this ain’t no honkey-tonk, and it sure isn’t alt country or southern fried rock ‘n roll. The Trail of Dead are all about full throttle, in your face sonic rock. Its new punk for a new millennium, or it would be if the term “punk” (or the word millenium for that matter) still held any sort of relevance. My fav song: Another Morning Stoner.

Classically trained musicians have been making their way towards electronic music for some time now, and Canadian Dan Snaith aka Manitoba is a further proof that classical music is not a dead end, neither is it incompatible with the use of samplers, keyboards and drum machines. Start Breaking My Heart is an imaginative record, with enough personality to stand out by itself, and Dan Snaith proves to be one hell of a clever musician, already making a good impact on the electronic family. My fav song: Dundas, Ontario.
